Spark

I was walking around main st yesterday in Huntington Beach, just by the pier, checking out the shops and restaurants and came across Sparks woodfire cooking. What a great concept for a restaurant and right across from the beach too. This is a place worth taking your date or friends to, it's right on Main and PCH. I've got to bring me baby here!!

Disney Concert Hall

I've always been facinated by the new Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA, and while I've had a chance to photograph it twice this year, I've been very happy with the results but I still think I'm missing the right shot with the right weather conditions at the right time which would be around 6:00am. Around that time it should be getting a nice sunny warm glow sde lighting. But I'm not going to stop looking for it. Here's one I really enjoy.

Big Bear Lake Feb 2006

I was just reviewing some of my images from a Big Bear Lake trip we just took last month for President's day weekend and I found this really cool shot. The set up was we drove in to the mountain and I spotted this awesome bridge that goes along the edge of the east side of the lake. You can see it coming in off highway 330, the back way. So we start our drive going back home and luckly for me it was around 5:30pm and the sun was just starting to set in, well my wife tells me to pull over so she can change Mady's diaper before the long drive and guess where I happen to pull in, a park like setting right next to the cool bridge. I spent 10-15 minutes at the most I was able to get these really cool images.

Settings:

400ISO, 17MM focal lenght, 1/90 sec F4.8 / WB incadescent light

D200

I have been looking to purchase a second camera body for a while now to add to my equipment and I'm happy and thankful that God has blessed me with a Nikon D200. This is a brand new camera that was just realeased a few months (Nov 2005) ago. The photography community has raved about it, and so I have been eager to get my hands on it, except no has it. I've been looking and searching and non of my pro dealers have it, even on the internet and even the big camera dealers in NY. But lo' and behold, I could not believe who had one, Best Buy! Best Buy?!!! I never would have though they would have had one, but it just shows you how the distribution channels are changing in our new digital world.

The Road Ahead

The Road Ahead!

I got a chance to spend 3 hours yesterday with Harvey Branman of Photography as an Art. Harvey has his studio in Burbank where he shoots a lot of the events with the Chamber of Commerce, weddings and lot's of portraits. He was sharing with me a lot of his approach to runing his studio as my wife are in the process starting one up. I will definately put a lot of his approach to our situation and I'm so thankful that I was able to spend that time with him!
